Dancer - Teacher - Choreographer - Costume Designer

Mikaela (Estonian/American) is a 2017 Princess Grace Award Winner in dance. She studied classical ballet at American Ballet Theatre's pre-professional school for seven years before beginning her study of modern and contemporary dance at The Juilliard School. In 2018, she graduated from The Juilliard School's four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts program and joined Nederlands Dans Theater 2 under the direction of Paul Lightfoot. In 2021, after three seasons in the Netherlands, Mikaela moved to Switzerland and danced with Ballett Theater Basel for two seasons. In 2023 she moved to Sweden to join GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world. After two seasons in Gothenburg, Mikaela left company life to start a new chapter as Paul Lightfoot’s creative assistant, dancer and stager. 

Mikaela is currently touring across Europe with the cast of ‘Roberto Bolle and Friends’, ‘Kammerballetten’ and Daniil Simkin’s ‘Athletes of The Gods’. 

In January of 2026 Mikaela will join S-E-D, Sharon Eyal Dance and tour ‘Into The Hairy’ with the company. 

Mikaela has performed works by many choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, Crystal Pite, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, Marco Goecke, Sharon Eyal, Alexander Ekman, Johan Inger, Marcos Morau, Edward Clug, Medhi Walerski, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yoann Bourgeois, Aszure Barton, Felix Landerer, Bryan Arias, Dimo Milev, Alexi Ratmansky, George Balanchine, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, José Limón and Jerome Robbins. 

Mikaela has also designed costumes for critically acclaimed choreographer Juliano Nunes, My’Kal Stromile, Rachelle Scott and Kiyan Khoshoie, as well as for Boston Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, Philadelphia Ballet, St. gallen Dance Company, Origins Dance Festival and V-Create, Orsolina 28.
